Greystar Eyeing 896 Doral Apartment Units

Greystar is seeking permission from the City of Doral to build 896 apartments at the Miami International Mall. The development is slated to go where two department store buildings currently stand.

The South Florida Business Journal reports that the site includes the shuttered Sears and  JCPenney store.

Under the proposal, Greystar would build up to 896 apartments in three phases. The first phase would have 292 apartments, and the second phase would have 230 apartments – both of them replacing the vacated Sears store. The third phase, with up to another 374 apartments, would replace the current JCPenney store.

The preliminary site plan by MSA Architcts shows apartment building of five and six stories tall. They would not be directly connected to the mall.

Simon owns the main mall, which spans more than 1 million square feet. Tenants include Macy’s, Elev8 Fun, American Eagle Outfitters, H&M, Mango, Pandora, Swarovski, Tous, and Victoria’s Secret.
