Denver Broncos Close on New Stadium Site

The Denver Broncos have agreed to terms with the Colorado Transportation Department to buy Burnham Yard, a former railroad switchyard. The Denver Business Journal reports that in March, the state and the team agreed to a total purchase price of $45.8 million for the land.

Since the Walton-Penner group purchased the team in 2022, the Broncos have thought about building a new, retractable-roof stadium and a surrounding entertainment district. The Broncos have revealed plans to develop 5 million to 7 million square feet in the neighborhood beyond the new stadium. The team’s development around the stadium will total 150 acres. That area will include an entertainment district and two neighborhoods to the north and south of the stadium.

The team previously said the plan is to begin construction in the next two years and open the stadium and part of an entertainment district by spring 2031.
