Daytona Beach Okays Massive Avalon Park Group Development

The Daytona Beach City Commission approved rezoning 2,760 acres of vacant land for the Avalon Park Daytona Beach planned development. The development will feature 8,818 residential units and 1,091,150 square feet of commercial and non-residential space.

The residential units at the new development will consist of a mix of single-family units, townhomes and apartments.

The Jacksonville Business Journal reports the developer says it has plans for a charter school, a downtown, a shopping area, restaurants, a grocery store, recreation and more.

Construction is projected to generate 27,000 jobs and more than $1.1 billion in wages over the life of the project. Full build-out of the project is planned to take 20 to 30 years.
