New Home in Roseland Built Through Rebuild Chicago 2.0 Program

Community members and city, state, and local leaders gathered to celebrate the first completed home in the Rebuild Chicago 2.0 program, a public-private partnership aimed at revitalizing nearly 30 vacant and underused properties in Roseland and Englewood. A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 11436 South Yale Avenue in Roseland.

The fully renovated single-family home features a 1,200-square-foot residence with three bedrooms. The home is a project under Rebuild Chicago 2.0, an affordable housing initiative and partnership with the City of Chicago Department of Housing, the Illinois Housing Development Authority, the Cook County Land Bank, Greenwood Archer Capital, and the Chicago Community Loan Fund.

Local developer Luis Castro acquired the property from the Cook County Land Bank with support from a portion of $20 million in grant funding and additional acquisition and renovation financing provided by the housing partnership. Rebuild Chicago 2.0 aims to redevelop approximately 33 abandoned and underused residential properties, including nearly 30 homes in Roseland and Englewood, along with several others on the Far South and West sides.

Join us on Tuesday afternoon, June 2, 2026, at the Connect Midwest Multifamily Trends Conference as JDL Founder, Jim Leitchinger, is honored with the Changing Skyline Award, followed by an exclusive Keynote Interview. This is a rare opportunity to hear firsthand insights from one of the region’s most influential visionaries in multifamily development.
