Centennial to Demolish Portion of Plano Mall

Centennial, the real estate company that acquired The Shops at Willow Bend, confirmed that it plans to start demolishing a portion of the mall within a year. The demolition is part of a plan to redevelop Willow Bend into a mixed-use center with retail, restaurants, housing, office space and an on-site hotel.

The Shops at Willow Bend opened on August 3, 2001. In March 2020, Starwood Retail lost ownership of the mall due to its inability to refinance a $135.7 million loan. Centennial took over the troubled mall in 2022.

Once the demolition is complete, Centennial plans to start work on the residential and retail components of the development.

While major retailers like Macy’s, Dillard’s and Neiman Marcus have closed or announced plans to close, there are several businesses still operating out of The Shops at Willow Bend such as Crate & Barrel and Equinox. They will stay open during the partial demolition.
