Portman Adding 330 Rental Units to Savona Mill Project

Portman Holdings is expanding its holdings at Savona Mill, an adaptive reuse project in Charlotte. In 2024, Portman delivered 319 units as part of Phase I and Phase II is expected to include 330 multifamily units.

The Charlotte Business Journal reports the project will have a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments as well as eight townhome pads. Amenities will include a pool deck, clubroom, fitness center and coworking space.

Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year, with first units delivering in the second quarter of 2028.

Portman spent $70 million overhauling the 108-year-old Savona Mill in 2023. In addition to the residential projects, the development encompasses about 180,000 square feet of office space, 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, several outdoor and open-air patios, and a rooftop deck.
