Hyundai to Invest $450M in Two Illinois Plants

Hyundai Translead will invest $450 million and create nearly 2,500 new jobs to establish new trailer manufacturing facilities in Will County.

Hyundai Translead is a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company, a global automotive maker headquartered in South Korea. Located on the former sites of Caterpillar’s heavy equipment operations and Lion Electric’s operation site in Will County, the company’s new facilities will expand its manufacturing footprint.

DarwinPW Realty/CORFAC International’s Jerry Sullivan and Ed Wabick, SIOR, negotiated the long-term lease for the 1,380,070 square foot building located within the Will County Industrial Center at 2200 Channahon Road in Joliet. Hyundai Translead was represented by Shamus Conneely of John Greene Commercial Real Estate in the transaction.

Illinois EDC worked closely with Hyundai Translead, leading the project by coordinating with the State of Illinois, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Will County Center for Economic Development, and the City of Joliet. In addition to Hyundai Translead, the state has attracted major manufacturing investments from Tangent Technologies, DMG MORI, and CSL.
