Dallas Development Legend, Henry S. Miller III, Passes Away at 79
Henry S. Miller III grew up in a real estate legacy that began with his grandfather in 1914 and made the name “Henry S. Miller” synonymous with Dallas. Candy’s Dirt reports Miller was a visionary, helping shape modern Dallas development while maintaining a strong emphasis on neighborhood-scale retail with West Village. He died a few days ago of from health reasons.
Long before mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly urban districts became standard in American cities, he imagined a Dallas where shopping, dining, living, and public life could coexist seamlessly—and brought that vision to life with West Village. Opened in 2001, West Village was groundbreaking for Dallas. The 400,000 square-foot Uptown development became a model of modern urban design, seamlessly integrating retail, dining, multifamily residences, and public space.
From Highland Park Village to Preston Royal Shopping Center, he helped develop properties that had unique ties to the surrounding neighborhoods.
