Nashville Eyeing Boring Co. Tunnel from Airport to Downtown

The Boring Co. is one vote away from starting work on a 19-mile circuit that will ferry passengers between Downtown Nashville and the Nashville International Airport. If finalized, the deal would enable The Boring Co. to operate at the airport, dig beneath its land, and build entry and exit portals for its tunnels near the terminal. The Boring Co. would occupy a 19,500-square-foot covered area outside the ground level of the terminal for passenger pick-up and drop-off. The airport authority’s board will vote on the deal at its Feb. 18 meeting.

The company will pay licensing fees to the airport for the right to shuttle passengers.

So far, the company has built 7 R&D tunnels in Reno, Las Vegas and Dubai. Called The Loop, it is an all-electric, zero-emissions, high-speed underground public transportation system in which passengers are transported to their destination with no intermediate stops. Also known as “Teslas in Tunnels!”
