Jacksonville’s NFL Team Granted $532M Stadium Building Permit

The City of Jacksonville issued a $532 million permit for the Stadium of the Future, the name of the new home of the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL team. Hunt Construction and Barton Malow are leading the building effort. HOK is the architect.

The Jacksonville Business Journal reports that while much of the old EverBank Stadium will remain, the team plans to bring the stadium in line with other recently built or improved NFL venues.

The stadium design provides a base capacity of more than 63,000 with expansion capabilities up to 71,500 for a college football game and more for a concert with added lighting and digital technology. The stadium’s design includes a 70% shade canopy.

The total project is a $1.4 billion investment split between the city and the Jaguars.

The project will culminate in the Stadium of the Future’s completion before the 2028 season.

The team will be forced to relocate for the 2027 season, with Orlando and Gainesville emerging as the two finalists.
