AEW Promotes Gina Szymanski to CIO, Global Securities

Boston-based AEW Capital Management promoted Gina Szymanski to CIO for its Global Securities business, which manages approximately $4 billion of real estate securities across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Previously, she was senior portfolio manager for AEW’s North American securities platform, which represents more than 70% of the firm’s total global securities holdings.

“Gina’s in-depth knowledge of the global public real estate market and the meaningful impact of her work on our investment model have significantly contributed to the direction of our securities business since she joined the firm,” said JT Straub, AEW’s head of Global Securities. “As she takes over as Global CIO, I know she will provide strong oversight to our longstanding investment process, which has been developed over the last 30 years.”

Szymanski is a managing director of the firm. Before joining AEW, she worked at Putnam Investments for over 15 years and was the REIT portfolio manager for Putnam’s Research Fund, a senior member of the Global Equity Research team and a portfolio member of the Quantitative Equity Research team.
