Foxconn Spending $220M on Houston Factory Revamp
Technology manufacturer Foxconn is planning to spend $220 million to revamp its production line at 8228 Houston Ave. The Houston Business Journal reports the construction spans 454,979 square feet, including a 345,427-square-foot manufacturing, assembly and production storage facility on the first level. Additionally, 119,552 square feet on the second floor will be dedicated to business offices, lockers, restrooms and a lounge area.
Houston-based Kirksey Architecture is listed as the design firm on the filing.
Foxconn leased the 8228 Houston Ave at the Innerbelt Northwest Logistics Park. The company has a 122-month lease term with a total rent of $39.2 million. Foxconn is listed as the tenant of another building at 8118 Houston Ave., referred to as “Factory Two”. It has a lease term of 124 months with a total rent of $17.3 million.
Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Nvidia Corp. (Nasdaq: NVDA) both announced they would open major facilities in Houston next year. Both companies are partnering with Foxconn on the facilities.
