AVL to build $56M plant in Charlotte

Charlotte Scores Large Canadian Manufacturer

Canadian-based AVL Manufacturing will open its first U.S.-based mobile machine manufacturing plant in Charlotte, creating more than 325 new jobs and investing more than $56 million in the Steele Creek submarket.

The Charlotte Business Journal reports AVL will occupy a 232,310-square-foot building at Westinghouse Logistics Park in southwest Charlotte for its operations. The building at 13006 Sam Neely Road is owned by LBA Logistics, which acquired the nearly 19-acre site from The Keith Corp. in 2022 for $8.7 million.

AVL USA is a new company established by AVL Manufacturing, which is headquartered in Hamilton, Ontario. AVL specializes in manufacturing custom industrial enclosures for large-format standby power generators. The company’s products are used in various applications, such as supplying backup power to large and hyper-scale data centers.
