Mayor Brandon Johnson Announces Build Better Together
Mayor Brandon Johnson has launched Build Better Together, Chicago’s new strategy for inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Announced at the groundbreaking of 117 mixed-income units at 79 W. Monroe St., the initiative focuses on affordable housing, job creation, and neighborhood investment. It unites multiple city departments and agencies, including Planning, Housing, Cultural Affairs, and Business Affairs, to streamline processes, deepen partnerships, and support residents and businesses.
Programs like Cut the Tape are already expediting approvals and breaking down barriers to development. With $1.25 billion in HED bonds, the city is investing in housing, infrastructure, small business support, and cultural enrichment.
“Build Better Together will allow us to maximize all our city’s unique and varied assets, attract more businesses and residents and strengthen our investments in housing, culture and business support and creation to make our city more compelling, attractive and welcoming to all who experience it,” said Mayor Johnson.
