First Resi Project of Gowanus Rezoning Begins Move-Ins

Residential move-ins have begun at 420 Carroll, reportedly the first mixed-income development to emerge from the 2021 Gowanus Neighborhood Rezoning. The two-building development at 420 Carroll St. on the Gowanus waterfront comprises 360 homes, including 90 apartments reserved for families earning between 40% and 100% of the area median income.

“As the first project to come out of the 2021 Rezoning, 420 Carroll is a project that represents a new era of growth in Gowanus, and finally reaching the milestone of residential move-ins is not only a meaningful moment for us, but for the entire neighborhood and community,” said Matt Schwartz, co-CEO of The Domain Companies, the project’s developer.

Providing further evidence of the Brooklyn neighborhood’s transformation from its industrial past, Quinlan Development Group and GTIS Partners have unveiled new renderings of Longview, a residential development currently underway at the intersection of Park Slope and Gowanus. Located at 380 4th Ave., it will deliver 197 apartments including 50 affordable units, 30,000 square feet of amenity spaces and 14,000 square feet of retail.
