DAMAC building expensive condos on site of Sunrise building collapse

Condos to Rise on Site of Deadly Building Collapse

DAMAC International has started selling what could be the priciest condos in South Florida. The starting price for one is $15 million. The project will be located at 8777 Collins Ave., Surfside, the site of the deadly Champlain Towers South condo collapse in 2021. DAMAC purchased the 1.88-acre site along the ocean for $120 million in 2022, with much of the proceeds going to the victims of the collapse.

DAMAC is calling the project The Delmore. It will feature 37 fully-furnished condos in 12 stories. They will average more than 7,000 square feet, including penthouses starting at 10,000 square feet. Each condo will have two kitchens, an entertainment kitchen and a chef’s kitchen in the back.

The condo will feature more than 55,000 square feet of amenities, including a rooftop pool partially suspended in the air between the two towers, an indoor pool, a residents-only restaurant with a high-end chef, a fitness center, and a wellness spa with a steam room, sauna and hot/cold plunge pools.

DAMAC said site work has started on the Delmore and construction should be completed in 2029.
