Costco looking for Liberty Hill retail buddies

Liberty Hill Costco Seeking Retail Neighbors

ConnectCRE has covered the Costco planned opening in Liberty Hill, but what’s new is that the popular warehouse store wants company. The store plans to lease or sell additional retail space surrounding its planned Liberty Hill store that it hopes to open in November.

The company plans to build a 154,000-square-foot store on a 35-acre property it’s purchasing from Pohl Partners Inc. The company only plans to use about 20 acres, allowing it to sell or lease the remainder of the space — believed to be about eight or nine pad sites and tens of thousands of square feet — to other retailers.

The Austin Business Journal reports Costco doesn’t usually buy the entire site, but considering the traffic the warehouse giant gets, it may not be difficult to find other businesses who want to piggyback on the companies success.

It will take about six months to build the project, with the goal of opening by November.

Costco anticipates having 200 employees.
