Amazon Loans $22M to Affordable Housing Project

Amazon will help back an affordable housing development in Bellevue with a $22.1 million loan.

The 234-unit project will be located near Bellevue’s Spring District and include two buildings, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal. Sound Transit owns the nearly two-acre site, and work on the development is already underway, with the project slated to be completed in 2026. California-based Bridge Housing is the developer.

The housing project is the latest in the region to be supported by Amazon’s Housing Equity Fund, which provides funding to create or preserve multi-family affordable housing developments across Washington State’s Puget Sound region, the Arlington, Virginia/D.C. region, and Nashville, Tennessee.

In August of last year, Amazon re-opened the application portal for the company’s Housing Equity Fund following its announcement to commit an additional $1.4 billion to create or preserve 14,000 affordable homes.
