SAT Starts Work on New $1.2B Terminal

The San Antonio International Airport (SAT) has officially broken ground on its new $1.2 billion terminal.

The terminal will feature up to 17 gates and span more than 850,000 square feet, designed to meet the needs of one of the fastest-growing medium-sized airports in the U.S.

This project will not only accommodate SAT’s growth but city leaders expect it to spur the local economy and set the standard for the airport of the future. The terminal is expected to open by the second quarter of 2028. The construction project of the terminal will support 16,000 jobs.

The airport has reported record-breaking passenger travel for every month this year.

New Terminal Amenities include:

  • Up to 17 domestic and international gates by mid-2028 to accommodate projected growth through 2040
  • 850,000+ sq. ft. of new terminal space with 41,000 sq. ft. of new concession space
  • 29,000+ sq. ft. club lounge space
  • Larger gate hold rooms for enhanced passenger comfort
