Vestar Adding N. Phoenix Retail Center
Vestar is moving forward with plans for a grocery-anchored retail center in north Phoenix called Black Mountain Village.
The Phoenix Business Journal reports it will feature 160,000 square feet of retail, including an unnamed 65,000-square-foot grocery store. Although the layout is still preliminary, an additional 65,000 square feet of retail space surrounding the main store could be built out.
Vestar’s project will be located at the southwest corner of Deer Valley Drive and Black Mountain Boulevard in the city’s Desert Ridge area. The land is currently owned by the Arizona State Land Department. The site is expected to be auctioned off by next summer, followed by construction starting in early 2026 and an opening date in the first quarter of 2028. Suite-6 Architecture + Planning is the architect for the center. A general contractor has not been selected.
Not far from the property is the intersection of Loop 101 and Tatum Boulevard, which includes the Desert Ridge Marketplace, the Mayo Clinic campus and CityNorth.
