Tucson sports and entertainment center to cost $425M

Massive Tucson Sports Center Breaks Ground

The days of putting up a few outdoor basketball backboards at a public park are long gone. The competition to attract and keep family-oriented residents is stiff and communities sense they need to offer much more. Tucson is doing just that. Developers and town officials attended a groundbreaking for what will be a $425 million sports and entertainment district.

Called the Mosaic Quarter, the privately funded complex will provide a 175,000-square-foot ice rink, 131,000-square-foot field house and dozens of outdoor fields.

The privately funded project’s developers will pay Pima County a $27 million ground lease and will come up with the money to build the project. Mosaic Quarter Development and Knott Development are helming the project. Pima County is expecting $675 million in cash flow from the project, which will be situated at Kino Parkway and I-10.
