Capital Commercial Eyeing Plano Mixed-Use Venture

Development on 107 acres in Plano’s Legacy Business Park (photo), which includes the former JCPenney headquarters building, could soon be coming.

Community Impact reports a mixed-use development proposed by Capital Commercial Investments has moved through the Plano Planning and Zoning Commission. The parcel includes the former JC Penney headquarters building. The City Council will vote on the matter next month.

The mixed-use development will include over 700 residential units. Two residential towers are expected to be developed in conjunction with Streetlights Residential. The residential development is broken into two phases: both with up to 365 residential units with open spaces or with a water feature included.

The developers are also hoping to include a hotel with 225 rooms and a 400,000 square of office space.

Capital Commercial has invested around $30 million to improve the former JCPenney headquarters building, adding a gym and day care facilities.
