Southtown Aldea site being readied by Oxbos

Southtown Oxbow Site Priming for Development

Oxbow Development Group is proceeding with a redevelopment project in San Antonio that will replace the former San Antonio school district headquarters. The company is planning a mixed-use project to be called “Southdown Aldea,” just south of Hemisfair. The project calls for six-story and five-story mixed-use buildings with residential and ground-floor retail components, as well as a six-story residential building that wraps around a seven-story, 600-space parking garage. Oxbow bought the property from the district in 2018 for $14.5 million.

The multifamily portion of the project will include 250 market-rate housing units between the three structures and 40,000 square feet of commercial space.

Oxbow is seeking conceptual design approval from the Historic Design and Review Committee next week. Construction on Phase 1 is expected to start in late 2025 and wrap up in 2027 or 2028. Local firms Alamo Architects and Don B. McDonald Architects are on the design team.
