Warehouses Replacing Onetime Surf Park
While new surf parks keep popping up in Phoenix, one that closed down is having a rebound of sorts. The former site of Big Surf in Tempe may come back to life as a busy industrial hub. Early site work is underway at The Next Wave, a three-building, 690,000-square-foot spec industrial park at 1480 N. McClintock.
The Phoenix Business Journal reports Overton Moore Properties has started grading. The company expects full construction on the park to start by Thanksgiving. Public records indicated the company paid nearly $50 million for the parcel.
CBRE Group Inc.’s John Werstler, Cooper Fratt and Tanner Ferrandi are the listing brokers for The Next Wave. CBRE says the park can accommodate users of all sizes but the “sweet spot” is for tenants looking for under 200,000 square feet of space.
The architect for the project is HPA Architecture and Layton Construction will be the general contractor.
