KPMG to Advise Monumental on Capital One Fan Experience, Technology
Monumental Sports & Entertainment is expanding its deal with KPMG, making the firm its official consulting and advisory partner.
KPMG will play a major role in both enhancing the fan experience and community impact of the current Capital One Arena, which is home to the Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards. KPMG will also guide the wide-ranging technology transformation and modernization of the arena and expansion of Monumental’s business and hospitality operations in downtown D.C.
Earlier this year, the city struck a deal to keep both teams in both teams in D.C. until at least 2050. The city agreed to spend $515 million over three years to help owner Ted Leonsis, the owner of the Washington Wizards, Capitals and Mystics, modernize and make renovations to Capital One Arena.
“There has never been a more pivotal time for our organization as we embark on the opportunity of a lifetime to transform Capital One Arena into an iconic epicenter of sports and entertainment in the heart of the nation’s capital and set up our overall business for sustained growth and innovation,” said Jim Van Stone of Monumental.
