Amazon, Habitat for Humanity Break Ground on Largest Single-Family Condo Project
Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King & Kittitas Counties was recently joined by Amazon and other community partners at the groundbreaking ceremony for a 58-unit affordable condominium development in Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood.
Located at 5022 MLK Jr. Way, the property will consist of five stories of condominiums, including five studios, 26 one-bedroom units, and 27 two-bedroom units, with homes ranging in size from 370 to 690 square feet. 5022 MLK will be Habitat for Humanity’s largest single-building multi-family development in the country—surpassing the previous largest single-building project in New York.
Development is supported in part by the Amazon Housing Equity Fund, with Amazon providing a $1.35 million low-interest loan. This is part of a larger $6.5 million commitment from the fund to support Habitat’s creation of 132 affordable homes across four Habitat SKKC projects in the region. The project also secured a $6 million investment from Washington State in addition to support from various local housing organizations.
