Tesla Supplier Chooses Buda for 66K-SF Factory
Futronic USA Inc. has selected Buda, just south of Austin, to build a 66,000-square-foot building at a cost of $28 million. It’s expected to employ 350 people. Tenant improvements are scheduled to be finished by the end of this year, and production is slated to start late next year. The company is a Tesla supplier. The multi-billion dollar Tesla plant is an hour north, in Taylor.
Futronic makes motors, actuators, controllers and other parts for global automotive companies.
An economic development agreement provides $600,000 in incentives from the city of Buda — or roughly $3,000 per job for the first 200 created — over a 10-year period. The company plans to reach 350 once it hits full operations, which would make it the city’s largest private-sector employer. It’s also required to occupy the space within 18 months.
The Hays County Commissioners Court also approved an incentive package consisting of a 50% property tax rebate over a 10-year period.
