- Tenant rep firm Cresa has added three veteran advisors to its Los Angeles team. They are: Shawn Sala, who rejoins Cresa as a principal from Savills; 20-year veteran David Callahan, who rejoins Cresa from Hughes Marino as a principal; and SVP Matt Perrigue, a 25-year veteran who joins from JLL.
- Having held a soft launch of its new Santana Row office last week, JLL announced four new brokerage professionals have joined in San Jose. They include Alex Lagemann, who joins JLL as senior managing director, with nearly a decade of experience in Silicon Valley tenant and landlord brokerage; Sean Toomey, joining JLL as managing director after 18 years with Colliers; Bryte Bellotti, a managing director joining from Newmark; and Maryjane Archuleta, who joins as an associate.
- Cushman & Wakefield has grown its industrial capital markets team in the West Region with the addition of Aubrie Monahan. Joining Cushman & Wakefield from JLL as a director, Monahan will be based in the Orange County office in Irvine. She will work in close partnership with IAG-West team leaders Jeff Chiate and Rick Ellison in serving clients.
- James Hwang joined MDH Partners as VP of acquisitions, leading the firm’s West Coast acquisition efforts and its newly established Los Angeles office. Hwang will concentrate his efforts on the major California markets along with Salt Lake City, Reno and Las Vegas. He brings extensive knowledge of Southern California’s industrial real estate market, closing more than 11 million square feet totaling $2.7 billion in his previous role.
- As part of Continental Realty Corporation’s (CRC) expansion into Southern California, the company has recruited two commercial real estate veterans to join the team. The Baltimore-based real estate investment and management company hired Peggy Donica as general manager of South Coast Collection (SoCo), a 60-store lifestyle center in Costa Mesa that CRC acquired last year, and selected Roseanne Holmes as leasing associate in the organization’s Commercial Division. They represent the initial hirings in CRC’s new Southern California office.
- MacKenzie Realty Capital, Inc., based in Orinda, has retained Maxim Group LLC to provide general financial advisory and investment banking services to the company in connection with, among other things, strategic planning, potential uplisting to a U.S. exchange and potential rights offering, equity issuance or other mechanisms to enhance corporate and shareholder value. The partnership is a significant step towards MacKenzie’s goal of becoming listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market or New York Stock Exchange.
- Interior design firm Nadia Geller Designs completed interior installation on Belle on Bev, a mixed-use multifamily project in Los Angeles. Located in Historic Filipinotown, Belle on Bev contains two rooftop decks with views of Los Angeles alongside amenities including conference rooms, workspaces, fitness center, yoga space, courtyards, and dog wash pet spa.
- Kimco Realty has added 19 new tenants across nine shopping centers throughout the California Bay Area: Chico Crossroads (REI), 280 Metro Center (Ikea Colma Plan & Order Point, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, SweatHouz), Cupertino Village (Toby’s Board Games Club, Jacky Yang Dance Group) Plaza 580 Shopping Center (Sephora; MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes; Bober Tea), Gateway Plaza (The Kebab Shop, Angry Chickz), Fremont Hub (Sankalp Taste of India, Games of Fremont, Pacific Dental Care, Signature Carpet One), Stanford Ranch (Azayaka Sushi, Juice It Up), Dublin Retail Center (H Mart), and Westlake S.C. (Sourdough & Co.). Each of these new tenants is either already open or expected to open in 2024/2025.
- Centennial’s MainPlace, a three-story super-regional shopping center in Santa Ana, announced the opening of specialty pop-culture retailer FYE, the return of fashion retailer Express, and the addition of three new local tenants: Flowers on Wheels, a popular Orange County florist; Lollicup Fresh, a specialty tea and snack eatery; and WOW Games, a store for gaming enthusiasts. Each of these additions is either open now or expected to open later in the third quarter.
- Torrance-based Kay Properties & Investments, a national leader in Delaware Statutory Trust equity placements and 1031 exchange investor education, has published its exclusive 1031 DST Digest magazine. This specialized publication is designed to offer in-depth education on 1031 Exchange and DST investment strategies, addressing current investment themes and answering some of the most asked questions from investors.
- Tutor Perini subsidiary Rudolph and Sletten has begun construction of the Stanford Hospital Pod E Renovation project in Palo Alto. The scope of work consists of renovations to a four-story 62,000 square-foot portion of the existing acute care hospital for upgraded inpatient nursing units for cancer patient recovery. The project also includes converting dual-bed patient rooms into single-patient rooms and the upgrade and/or replacement of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, information technology and medical equipment systems. Additionally, two four-story extensions to the building will be added to increase the number of patient beds. Substantial completion is anticipated in the spring of 2027.
