  • Kilroy Realty announced a pair of executive promotions and two new hires. Eliott Trencher, who currently serves as EVP, CFO and CIO, will remain as CFO through August 18, after which he will continue as EVP, CIO. In addition to his investment responsibilities, Trencher will also oversee asset level strategic planning across the portfolio. Jeffrey Kuehling has been appointed EVP, CFO effective August 19. Kuehling joins Kilroy from Brixmor Property Group, where he has worked since 2018 holding a variety of roles. Lauren Stadler has been promoted to EVP, general counsel and secretary, effective immediately. She has been with the company for more than 10 years, most recently serving as SVP, corporate counsel and assistant secretary. Michael Schmidt has been hired as SVP, leasing – Northern California region, effective August 19. He brings more than 23 years of office experience across various West Coast markets. Prior to joining Kilroy, Schmidt worked at Lake Washington Partners and Columbia Property Trust.
  • Ben Wobschall has joined CBRE as an EVP and will partner with vice chairman Kristina Metzger on the Data Center Capital Markets team, based in San Diego. Most recently, Wobschall served as managing director portfolio management for Principal Asset Management, leading the Principal Digital Real Estate Fund, an opportunistic data center investment vehicle launched in 2020. 
  • Design firm Ware Malcomb said Smita Gupta has joined the firm as regional director to lead the San Diego offices. She will work closely with San Diego’s existing leaders to continue the firm’s growth and diversification in the region. Previously, Gupta was a senior member of Genentech’s in-house design and engineering team.
  • Suffolk, one of the largest real estate and construction enterprises in the country, has added Leif Johnson as project executive of its Aviation team on the West Coast. He brings strong relationships on the West Coast, experience managing airport construction projects and a commitment to leveraging technology and data to increase efficiencies. Johnson will leverage his deep knowledge of the aviation sector and his understanding of client needs to manage project execution and support business development efforts in the region. 
  • BBG, a leading independent commercial real estate services firm, today appointed industry leader Brian Tankersley, MAI, MRICS, as managing director of the firm’s Los Angeles office. The firm also announced that the office has expanded and relocated to 700 S. Flower St.   
  • Corporate attorney Brandon Shelton has joined Strategy Law, LLP, based in San Jose. Shelton has broad legal experience counseling businesses including expertise tailored to start-ups, corporations and limited liability companies (LLCs), emerging companies and venture capital financing, mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, and intellectual property protection.
  • Doug Sundstrom recently joined the Gildred Companies team as VP investments, based in San Diego. Sundstrom brings a wealth of experience in asset management and leadership to the firm. He spearheads the oversight of Gildred Companies’ Southern California real estate portfolio, encompassing nearly one million square feet of prime properties. He will provide strategic direction on leasing, acquisitions, and dispositions, ensuring the company’s investments continued success, growth, and expansion. 
  • Irvine-based KTGY, an award-winning design firm focused on architecture, interior design, branded environments and urban design, announced that David Obitz has retired from his role as principal as of July 31, after 21 years with the firm. Effective August 1, leadership of the studio has transitioned to principal Alan Scales, who has been with the firm for 23 years.  
  • Interior and exterior design installation at The Parker, a seven-story multifamily development by Cityview in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood of Los Angeles, has been completed by Nadia Geller Designs, an award-winning interior design firm. Located at 5935 W. Pico Blvd., the mixed-use building has 123 residential units ranging from studio to two-bedroom layouts nestled above 3,500 square feet of storefront commercial space, with a two-level, 169-car subterranean parking garage below.
