Kyle Sportsplex Plans Taking Shape

Four years ago, Kyle residents voted for a bond issue that would serve as seed money for an indoor/outdoor sports complex. Since then, the town and Hays County have contributed $24 million more. The town is getting close to finalizing construction plans. Stantec Consulting is in charge of the feasibility study. A 90-acre site—located along FM 1626, near Plum Creek Meadows Drive in Kyle—is being considered for the sportsplex.

The outdoor sportsplex projects identified are as follows:

  • Two miles of trails
  • Four basketball courts and playgrounds
  • Five youth turf fields, volleyball courts and shuffle board courts
  • 10 full-size turf fields
  • 11 pickleball courts
  • 17 bleachers
  • 30 shade pavilions

The indoor sportsplex could include an indoor track, community room, catering kitchen, multi-purpose courts and an open workout area.

The first phase of the indoor sportsplex project is anticipated to cost $65 million. The town expects to ask the voters for more funding at a later bond election.
