Renovations Completed on Taproom at Historic Karl Vogt Building
Urban Innovations recently completed renovations and an expansion of the historic Karl Vogt Building at 6811 Hickory Street in downtown Tinley Park. The four-story, 7,835-square-foot former apartment building, built in 1872, is now home to The Vogt House by Banging Gavel Brews.
The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 and is the only designated landmark in Tinley Park. The project entailed an interior and exterior renovation of the four-story building, including a complete gut and structural work throughout each floor and lowering the basement slab to make room for the new brewery. The Vogt Building was built by merchant and German immigrant Karl Vogt and is the oldest building in Tinley Park.
“We collaborated extensively with the design team, structural engineer, environmental solutions engineer, National Park Service, and other contractors and state entities to deliver the most updated, attractive, and cost-effective solutions to the owner,” said Ramiro Trevino, vice president of construction for Urban Innovations. The architects are Katherine Pohl and Joakim Backstrom of Altus Works. The project manager is Jason Zeman, and the construction superintendent is Albert Bauer.
