330-Acre Mixed-Use Project Okayed Near Samsung Plant

Megatel Group received the go-ahead for a 330-acre project in Taylor, not far from the new Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. factory.

The mixed-use project will go in on the east side of the city, west of Carlos G. Parker Boulevard and north of State Highway 79.

The proposal includes more than 1,000 residential units on the north side of the project, including 122 single-family homes of various building types, 786 multifamily units and 153 carriage house apartments. 21,000 square feet of live-work-play units are also envisioned, allowing a small business owner to operate a tiny shop from their home.

The Austin Business Journal reports the southern portion would have an estimated 2.03 million square feet of industrial space.

Much of the new development is spearheaded by Samsung and the massive chip fabrication plant it’s building in the city as part of $45 billion in investment in the region.
