Prologis Announces $50M Redevelopment at the Port of Tacoma

Prologis Inc. is planning a $50 million redevelopment of one of its industrial buildings located in the Port of Tacoma.

The logistics real estate firm submitted pre-application documents for the project, called Building 9, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal. Prologis owns an existing 204,000-square-foot building on the site at 2602 Port of Tacoma Road. The property was built in 1962 and is currently valued at $4.5 million.

Prologis is one of the largest industrial property owners in the Seattle area, with 160 properties totaling over 25 million square feet. In the Tacoma submarket, Prologis has a variety of warehouses along the I-5 corridor, located near the Port of Tacoma. The company also has industrial properties in Seattle, Everett, Kent Valley, and Renton.

“We are hearing from our customers that they need more modern and sustainable logistics facilities with access to the Port of Tacoma,” Mattie Sorrentino, a spokesperson for Prologis, told the Journal.
