Berkadia Names Mortgage Banking Lead for Los Angeles, San Francisco

Berkadia has hired senior managing director Louis Friedel, who will lead the Los Angeles and San Francisco mortgage banking offices at Berkadia. Friedel will report to SVP – co-head of mortgage banking and production operations Cole Schutjer.

Given Freidel’s 20-plus years’ industry experience, “I’m thrilled to have Lou join the mortgage banking platform at Berkadia to lead our offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco,” said Schutjer. “We’ve been actively expanding our presence and expertise on the West Coast, and Lou is a testament to that. I look forward to seeing the continued success of our banking teams in 2024 and beyond under Lou’s leadership, with an emphasis on providing our clients innovative and competitive debt and equity solutions.”

Before joining Berkadia, Friedel served as a managing director at TPG Angelo Gordon, where he worked on investments for the funds in the West Coast markets, across all product types.
