Prologis Moves Ahead with Sterling Data Center Plans
Prologis Inc. is moving forward with plans to redevelop some warehouses it owns in Sterling, Virginia, into data centers. The company filed a special exception application seeking extra density for data centers at 42121 and 45181 Global Plaza, both located in Loudoun County’s “data center alley.” Washington Business Journal reported.
The development site is approximately 10 acres, with by-right development potential of about 261,000 square feet. Prologis is proposing to increase this to about 436,000 square feet to meet market demands and the development pattern of the surrounding area.
The property consists of two adjacent commercial condo flex industrial buildings, each about 81,000 square feet, plus their parking lots, forming part of a three-building warehouse park known as Global Plaza South. Prologis recently received site plan approval to build 260,000 square feet of data centers on another warehouse campus in the area.
