Micro-rentals going up in San Marcos

210 Micro-Homes Slated for San Marcos

Sometimes, size isn’t everything. Austin-based startup Casata has broken ground on Casata San Marcos, 210 micro-homes ranging from 512 to 806 feet. The project, located at 2138 Post Road in San Marcos, is the company’s second rental community. Its first was a 66-unit venture in Austin.

On its website, Casata says that despite their size, the homes are packed with amenities, such as snug bedrooms, well-equipped kitchens complete with an island, inviting living rooms, convenient in-unit washer/dryer setups, and spacious outdoor patios. Outside amenities at Casata San Marcos will include a community center, a pool, pocket parks and an exercise facility. Others include a dog park, electric scooters, charging stations and bikes. Residents will be able to move into Casata San Marcos in late summer 2025.

Two additional communities, Bastrop and College Station, are under development.
