Nintendo to Open Second U.S. Store in San Francisco
Nintendo of America on Friday announced plans to open an official store in San Francisco’s Union Square. With a 2025 opening slated, the San Francisco outlet will arrive 20 years after the only other standalone Nintendo store in the U.S., located at Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan.
The Japan-based video game maker offered no specifics on what Nintendo San Francisco will include. In a release, the company said the store will provide “a way for a wide range of visitors from near and far to experience the world of Nintendo, its products and characters.” It promises “more information as the new store opening approaches.”
In addition to the New York City store, Nintendo operates three standalone stores in Japan, located in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. The company also operates stores within its theme parks, including Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood. 2025 will also see a Super Nintendo World opening at Universal Orlando.
