Winter Park developer adding news rooms, event center to hotel.

Orlando Developer Expanding Hotel, Event Venue

A Winter Park developer is asking a local planning board to approve its application to improve an events center and expand an existing hotel at Ravaudage, a mixed-use development at Orlando Avenue and Lee Road. Sydgan is heading up the $11.5 million project.

One portion of the request seeks approval to construct a four-story, 25,600-square-foot addition to the 126-room SpringHill Suites Winter Park. The expansion would add 44 new rooms, bringing the total to 170.

The other request seeks to build a two-story, 8,409-square-foot event center called Ravaudage Events at 1117 N. Orlando Ave., just south of the hotel expansion. The building would feature a rooftop component above the second floor, with outdoor and air-conditioned areas, as well as a kitchen on the first floor. The developer told the Orlando Business Journal that the hotel is operating at around 90% occupancy, and the demand is growing.

ACi Architects of Winter Park is designing the project.
