  • Topspin Consumer Partners’ portfolio company, MISSION, has appointed Jocelyn Thornton as its new CEO and Deborah Klemm as CFO. With over 50 years of combined consumer goods industry experience, Thornton’s leadership at Dearfoams and other brands, along with Klemm’s financial expertise from Morilee by Madeline Gardner and other companies, will drive MISSION’s innovation and growth in cooling technologies.
  • The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) presented its annual Americas Awards at the NYU-RICS Americas Conference, which was held at the New York University (NYU) Stern School of Business on May 8. Oónagh-Marie Micklethwaite MRICS of New York’s Turton Bond was awarded with the Emerging Achiever of the Year. Cumming Group‘s Data Center Team, led by Colin Scott FRICS and their scheduling lead Tom Vanelli, were recognized with an award for aiding a client drive efficiency in reducing costs and time implementing sustainability measures for their next generation of Data Centers. Logan HQ of Bogota, Colombia, received an award for its work completed for LatAM Logistic Properties (LLP) in 2023. 
  • Walters, a builder, owner, and property manager, received seven FAME (Fabulous Achievement in Marketing Excellence) awards from the Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey (SBACNJ). The awards, including the prestigious Community of the Year, were for Cornerstone at Montvale, a Bergen County affordable community. The property, designed for LEED and ENERGY STAR certification, also won in categories like Best Signage and Best Architectural Design.
  • Urban Land Institute Northern New Jersey (ULI) and East Orange School District are expanding the Urban Plan program to East Orange High Schools in May 2024. Urban Plan offers students a hands-on real estate planning experience with industry professionals, teaching them about real estate development’s impact on communities and fostering collaboration and presentation skills. The program, integrated into AP US History and AP Government classes, tasks teams with developing redevelopment proposals for a fictional community, simulating real-world market and non-market forces. Volunteers from various backgrounds support the program. Since 2003, UrbanPlan has reached over 52,000 students in the US and Canada.
  • Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, has announced that Skanska USA leased 15,300 square feet for the Equinor Offshore Wind project’s office. Skanska will transform the adjacent South Brooklyn Marine Terminal into an offshore wind port.
  • Broadview at Purchase College, a university retirement community in Westchester, has opened. The community, developed on 40 acres of Purchase College campus land, offers a continuum of services and various residential options. Broadview has over 90% of residences reserved.
  • Monarch Alternative Capital LP has expanded its Investor Relations and Business Development team, adding Kristina Kuhnke as managing director in London to focus on international partnerships and Roddy Conner as director to enhance the real estate platform. Kuhnke brings global relationship experience from RoundShield Partners, Triton Partners, and CQS, while Conner joins from ACORE Capital with expertise in real estate debt management.
