PMB, UChicago Medicine Cut Ribbon on NW Indiana Facility
Healthcare developer PMB recently held the grand opening of the University of Chicago Medicine’s new 132,000-square-foot multispecialty care center in Northwest Indiana. The center, located at 10855 Virginia St., Crown Point, IN, is the first freestanding facility in Indiana by UChicago Medicine and its largest offsite location.
Prompted by a market assessment revealing that 15% of Northwest Indiana patients traveled outside the region for medical care, UChicago Medicine conducted a nationwide search for a developer. PMB executed all aspects of the project, from locating and purchasing the land parcel to hiring and coordinating with the architecture and construction firms.
“It’s really about shifting risk and all execution responsibilities to a third party,” said Jake Rohe, managing partner and president at PMB. “Healthcare institutions are in the business of delivering care in a very regulated and dynamic environment. Partnering with a dedicated healthcare developer can augment their resources and provide all the necessary controls to the health system. We can get the same project and scope of work to market faster and more efficiently, and we can do it at a better price point while still operating in a true partnership with the sponsoring health system.”
