Industry Veteran Jeffrey Counsell Joins Cresa

Industry veteran Jeffrey J. Counsell has merged the company he co-founded, Global Food Properties, with Cresa, announced President Greg Schementi. He joins the Chicago-based firm as a Principal. With Counsell’s addition, Cresa becomes the only commercial real estate firm with a dedicated food, ingredient, and nutrition manufacturing and R&D practice group.

“With his addition, we are adding expertise in this dynamic sector of our business and amplifying our commitment to enriching our offerings in industry sectors that require extensive subject matter knowledge,” said Schementi.

Counsell co-founded Global Food Properties in 2015 following stints at CBRE and Trammell Crow Company. During his career, he has executed over 200 transactions valued at over $650 million with clients, including many of the largest branded and private-label manufacturers across frozen, refrigerated, and shelf-stable categories.

Adam Ratajski, who has become a vice president, is joining Counsell at Cresa. Previously an associate with CBRE’s Food Facilities Group, he will be responsible for tracking data and market availability, business development, and deal execution.
