Elgin developer picks up 75 more acres for Briarwood

Elgin Mixed-Use Venture Gains 75 Acres

Ashton Gray Development has picked up an additional 75 acres to add to its 205-acre Briarwood project in Elgin. The first phase of construction at the development is already ongoing.

Briarwood is situated off Farm-to-Market Road 1100 in Elgin on the Travis County side of the Bastrop-Travis county line. The San Antonio Business Journal reports the original mixed-use development (MUD) agreement with Elgin called for about 772 single-family homes, 19 acres of mixed-use space and 33 acres of open space and parkland.

The new land will be home to about 182 townhomes, 19 acres of mixed-use, multifamily or commercial development and 43 additional acres of parkland and open spaces.

Briarwood is Elgin’s first in-city MUD. Residents and property owners will be subject to MUD rules and regulations while remaining part of the city of Elgin. That means Briarwood property owners will pay both MUD and Elgin property taxes.
