DisneylandForward Proposal Gets Nod from Anaheim Planners

Anaheim’s Planning Commission on Monday approved zoning and planning changes for DisneylandForward, a multi-decade project to expand the footprint of Disney’s existing theme parks. The proposal now goes to the Anaheim City Council, which is scheduled to vote on it April 16.

First introduced in 2021, the proposal doesn’t request any new acreage, square footage or hotel rooms to be developed, according to Anaheim’s municipal government. Instead, it would shift already approved development amounts across land on which Disney now operates.

The proposal calls for allowing theme park attractions alongside hotels on the west side of Disneyland Drive and for theme park attractions alongside new shopping, dining and entertainment on what is today the Toy Story Parking Area at Katella Avenue and Harbor Boulevard.

It also calls for expanded parking east and new parking northeast of the theme parks and potential foot bridges across Harbor Boulevard and Disneyland Drive.
