Mesquite/NRP Ease Affordable Housing Shortage

Mesquite says it’s short nearly 9,000 housing units. It cut into that number when it recently helped fund a 288-unit affordable housing project. Mesquite Housing Finance Corp. and Cleveland-based NRP Group LLC will team up to develop the Wooded Lake Apartments. It will feature a range of units from one to four bedrooms at 1410 Wooded Lake Drive, near I-636 and I-30.

The Dallas Business Journal reports the units will be income-restricted and target households earning between 50% and 70% of the area median income level. The median household income in Mesquite was $69,649 in 2022.

The finance corporation will maintain oversight of Wooded Lake Apartments and be involved in management of the community.

NRP Group expects to break ground on the nearly 15-acre complex in July or August. Established in 1994, the NRP Group has developed 26 communities in the area, totaling nearly 6,000 units.
