State of IL Awards $10M in Grants to Local Film Studios

Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity have awarded $10 million in grant funding for three local film studios for infrastructure projects through the Illinois Soundstage Program.

The Fields Studios located in Chicago received $5 million, Rock Island-based Fresh Films received $3.8 million, and Flyover Studios in Champaign will get $1.1 million. “The demand for film production space in Illinois is growing every day,” said Governor JB Pritzker.

The goal of the Illinois Soundstage Capital Grant Program is to fund studio projects to bolster Illinois’ streaming, TV and film industries. The grants can be used for building and modernizing soundstages and production space, which will help attract large-scale projects to the state while bolstering business for local vendors and businesses to create employment opportunities.

“The film industry has strong roots in Illinois, and now we are actively encouraging upward expansion and increased diversity,” said Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton.
