SHSU Building $80M Conroe Health Professions Building
Conroe will be the site for a new Sam Houston State University (SHSU) Health Professions Building. The new 85,000-square-foot, four-story building currently is expected to cost $70 million. It will be home to SHSU’s allied health programs, including athletic training, dietetics, physician’s assistant and physical therapy programs. The Master of Science program in athletic training and Master of Science in dietetics will also relocate from Huntsville to Conroe and will be housed in the new building.
The building will have a variety of skills labs, active learning classrooms, a seminar room and demo kitchen, an athletic training control room, exam rooms, huddle rooms, conference rooms and a multipurpose room.
A campus library, food pantry, food service and various student services, among other things, are included in the design as well.
Construction is expected to start this May. Final completion and occupancy is expected in January 2026.
The architect is Michigan-based SmithGroup, and Arizona-based Kitchell is the construction manager at risk.
