PNC opening 15 Houston banking centers

PNC Adding 15 Houston Banking Centers

Earlier this week, we reported that Chase was bucking a recent trend and plans to open up to 15 banking centers in Texas. PNC Bank plans to add 15 in the Houston market alone.

The plan includes an approximate $1 billion investment to open more than 100 new locations and renovate more than 1,200 existing locations through 2028. The bank will focus on places like Austin, North Texas, San Antonio, Denver and Miami, among other markets. PNC currently has about 2,300 brick-and-mortar locations nationwide.

The Houston Business Journal reports the expansion plan comes after the bank has announced multiple plans to close or consolidate branches in markets around the country over the past year, mostly due to the move to online banking. In 2023, PNC closed more than 200 branches across its footprint. However, the Houston market has largely been spared from those closures.
