Dick’s Adding Experiences to New Glendale Store

You’ll still be able to go into a new version of a Dick’s Sporting Goods store and get a baseball bat, but now you’ll be able to test it out in a batting cage. The same with golf, The Dick’s House of Sport will include a golf simulation bay. And for you rock climbers, there will be climbing walls. The supersized stores are expected to be about 100,000 square feet.

The Phoenix Business Journal reports the new store will be at the Loop 101 and Maryland in Glendale. The company bought 11 acres there last year for $10.6 million.

The property purchased by Dick’s is located just north of a planned Andretti Indoor Karting & Games facility and the existing Topgolf, all of which are situated across the Loop 101 from State Farm Stadium, home to the Arizona Cardinals.

Sports retailer Scheel’s, which recently opened in Chandler, offers similar interactive sports experiences.
