Former Chevron Campus in San Ramon Will Become Housing, Retail
The 92-acre former Chevron campus in San Ramon will be redeveloped into housing and retail under the city’s General Plan 2040 that rezones several sites within Sunset Development Company’s 600-acre Bishop Ranch. Sunset Development Company acquired Chevron Park last year and will repurpose it as a mixed-use neighborhood called Orchards.
Orchards will comprise 2,600 residential homes, 125,000 square feet of retail space, a 2.5-acre park and a perimeter walking greenway connecting to Iron Horse Trail. Decommissioning of Chevron Park is expected to begin this summer.
“Over the past decade, we have been pivoting Bishop Ranch from being among the country’s top office campuses to becoming the heart and soul of San Ramon, one of the world’s best suburban cities,” said Alexander Mehran Jr., president and CEO of Sunset.
The residential program at Bishop Ranch will ultimately bring up to 10,000 residences to Bishop Ranch, 1,000 of which are affordable housing.
