Miami's Trinity Cathedral leases land to apartment developer

Historic Miami Church Leasing Land to Apartment Developer

Miami’s historic Trinity Cathedral is allowing some of its property to be used by Key International to build a 42-story residential tower right next to it.

The Diocese of Southeast Florida filed a rezoning plan for the land near the base of the Venetian Causeway to Miami Beach. The Trinity Cathedral was built in 1923.

Proceeds from the land lease would support the church’s mission and ministry, including the construction of affordable housing throughout Miami-Dade County.

The S. Florida Business Journal reports under the plans, the 42-story tower would feature 462 residential units and a 553-space parking garage that would serve both the apartment tenants and the church. The church hall would be on the ground floor. There would be a pool/amenity deck on the eighth floor.

The residential units would range from 596-square-foot studios to 1,538 square feet with three bedrooms.
